Have you ever told God, "I want to be saved" or "I want to be a
Christian?" God is always listening for those who will ask Him to
save them.
In explaining how to become a Christian, the Biblical way, I will share with you some of the Scriptures that define the true way to become a Christian. Although there are other Scriptures, perhaps, these cover the steps in becoming a Christian. 1. Realize that we all
have sinned. I want to give you a sample prayer that you can pray to become saved. It is nothing fancy, but the main thing is, say your prayer to Jesus with all sincerity and mean it with all of your heart. To become a Christian is a life-long commitment to Jesus Christ, to serve Him for the rest of your life. Jesus forgives any sin you could ever commit, no matter how terrible, except taking the Holy Spirit's name in vain. In other words, don't curse the Holy Spirit or curse His name. A Christian is a person who devotes his or her life to Jesus Christ and submits to His will and not your own will. You are no longer your own, but Christ's after you become a Christian. God loves you so much, He sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, to die for you so that you could live eternally with Him in heaven. He loves you that much. Jesus is the King of Kings, and He came from His throne in heaven, the most beautiful place, to come to earth, the terrible place filled with sin, hatred, and murderous people to lay down His life to take your and my place. We deserved to die because of our sins, but Jesus chose to die in your place. He loves you that much. Accept His free gift of Salvation. He stands at your heart's door and knocks, wanting you to open your heart's door and let Him in. He is speaking figuratively, here and not literally. You open your heart's door by asking Jesus to come into your heart and life. That is all. To become a Christian, pray this simple prayer: "Lord, Jesus, I know that I am a sinner. I know that You paid the price for my sins. I ask You to forgive me of my sins and to be Lord of my life. Come into my heart and live in me. I confess that You, Jesus Christ, are God's only Son and I believe that You rose from the dead. I will serve You all of the rest of my life. Amen." If you prayed that prayer meaning it with all of your heart, you just got saved! You can say your own prayer in your own words, but do include the main points I outlined in the prayer above. What God expects of you after you become a Christian is to listen as the Holy Spirit guides you into learning more about God, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit and how They want to help you grow as a Christian. Secondly, God expects you to listen to the Holy Spirit as He convicts you of sins you commit. But try not to sin at all. Here are a few things God hates. God hates when people take drugs, drinks alcohol, having sex before marriage, living with a girlfriend or boyfriend without being married. God hates it when people murder other people, or people commit suicide. Don't commit suicide. God loves you too much to see you throw your life and soul away by taking your own life. God hates pornography and people listening to terrible, Satanic music that corrupts their souls. Live a life that is free from these and many other sins! The life God planned for us is a life of freedom, not a freedom to sin, but a life free from sin's chains of bondage. When you sin, you become a slave to sin unless you confess that sin to Jesus and ask His forgiveness and you stop doing that sin by turning from it. You need to live a life that is pleasing to God. The Bible tells us how to live that life. If you have just now become a Christian, by praying the prayer I've given you as an example or you prayed a prayer in your own words, I would like to hear from you. I simply want to pray for you. If you are not comfortable with that, it is okay. I'll just pray that God guides you to a group of Christians or to a true Church that will help you grow as a new Christian and to be trained in how to be a faithful Christian. God Bless you!
