At the heart of revealing the Antichrist's organization is the need to understand the harlot of Revelation chapter 17 also. The harlot is revealed as being part of the Antichrist's system in Revelation 17 in which John saw a harlot in a vision. This harlot plays an all important role in understanding what the Antichrist's system is and finally who the individual and last Antichrist will be.
Revelation chapter 17 reveals two organizations that become one. Namely, the harlot that rides a beast. The harlot and beast are two separate organizations, yet they join into one to become the Antichrist's system or the Antichrist's organization.
First, let's find out who the harlot is by discerning accurately the Scriptures from Revelation chapter 17. Without a doubt, once all of the clues from this chapter are understood as to their proper meanings, only one organization meets all of the requirements of being the harlot.
To understand Revelation chapter 17, concerning the harlot, there are some symbols that you will need to understand.
- Harlot = The great city that reigns over all the kings of the earth. She is also the 1st part of the Antichrist's system. They are a religious group who commit many fornications (sins and abominations) against God with every nation. When religious groups in the Old Testament turned their backs on God and worshipped other gods, God called them a harlot. I DO NOT believe the harlot is Israel, for various Scriptural reasons, but the harlot that fulfills Revelation chapter 17, claims to be a Christian organization, yet her deeds are deceitfully wicked. Thus, the angel, in the Book of Revelation chapter 17, calls them a harlot.
- Beast = Antichrist's system. This beast has ten horns and carries the harlot.
- Seven heads of the beast = Seven hills upon whom the harlot sits.
- Ten horns = Ten kings that reign with the Antichrist. They are from ten different nations. They have not previously had a kingdom until they reign with the Antichrist in his kingdom.
- The waters where the harlot sits = every nation. The harlot controls kings and peoples from every nation.
- The golden cup = one of the harlot's major symbols she uses in promoting her organization.
- Purple and scarlet (red) = the color of the clothing the harlot wears.
- Gold, precious stones and pearls = the harlot is rich because she wears much gold, precious stones and pearls. This also gives us the harlot's pagan belief of prayer beads which can be made of the same things.
- Mother of harlots = the harlot will be the Mother of many religious organizations that have branched off from her or are offshoots from her. This harlot claims to be the Mother over all churches.
- Mystery = part of harlot's title revealing that the harlot will be involved with mysteries in her religion similarly of how the mysteries were used in Babylon during the time of Babylon the Great.
I give you the whole Biblical text of Revelation chapter 17 now as I will be referring to it often in this study.
Revelation 17:1-18: NKJ
1. Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls came and talked
with me, saying to me, "Come, I will show you the judgment of the great
harlot who sits on many waters,
2. "with whom the kings of the earth committed fornication, and the
inhabitants of the earth were made drunk with the wine of her
fornication.''
3. So he carried me away in the Spirit into the wilderness. And I saw a
woman sitting on a scarlet beast which was full of names of blasphemy,
having seven heads and ten horns.
4. The woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet, and adorned with gold
and precious stones and pearls, having in her hand a golden cup full of
abominations and the filthiness of her fornication.
5. And on her forehead a name was written: MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT,
THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.
6. And I saw the woman, drunk with the blood of the saints and with the
blood of the martyrs of Jesus. And when I saw her, I marveled with great
amazement.
7. But the angel said to me, "Why did you marvel? I will tell you the
mystery of the woman and of the beast that carries her, which has the
seven heads and the ten horns.
8. "The beast that you saw was, and is not, and will ascend out of the
bottomless pit and go to perdition. And those who dwell on the earth
will marvel, whose names are not written in the Book of Life from the
foundation of the world, when they see the beast that was, and is not,
and yet is.
9. "Here is the mind which has wisdom: The seven heads are seven
mountains on which the woman sits.
10. There are also seven kings. Five have fallen, one is, and the other
has not yet come. And when he comes, he must continue a short time.
11. "And the beast that was, and is not, is himself also the eighth, and
is of the seven, and is going to perdition.
12. "And the ten horns which you saw are ten kings who have received no
kingdom as yet, but they receive authority for one hour as kings with
the beast.
13. "These are of one mind, and they will give their power and authority
to the beast.
14. "These will make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them,
for He is Lord of lords and King of kings; and those who are with Him
are called, chosen, and faithful.''
15. And he said to me, "The waters which you saw, where the harlot sits,
are peoples, multitudes, nations, and tongues.
16. "And the ten horns which you saw on the beast, these will hate the
harlot, make her desolate and naked, eat her flesh and burn her with
fire.
17. "For God has put it into their hearts to fulfill His purpose, to be
of one mind, and to give their kingdom to the beast, until the words of
God are fulfilled.
18. "And the woman whom you saw is that great city which reigns over the
kings of the earth.''
John begins by telling us that an angel spoke to him. This is what the angel said:
1. ..."Come, I will show you the judgment of the great harlot who
sits on many waters,
2. "with whom the kings of the earth committed fornication, and the
inhabitants of the earth were made drunk with the wine of her
fornication.''
Notice that, in verses 1 and 2, the harlot sits on many waters and commits fornication with all of the kings of the earth. This basically tells us that the harlot will rule the earth since the waters represents "peoples, multitudes, nations, and tongues" as stated in verse 15.
There is no other single organization that has controlled the fate of kings, kingdoms, nations or peoples like the Catholic church. They are second to none in that category. Their lies of deception has caused all nations to fornicate with her and commit the horrid abominations she commits.
For us to more easily understand who the harlot is, God even tells us what the harlot wears. Verse 4 says that the harlot was "arrayed in purple and scarlet." The Catholic church is known for wearing purple and scarlet. Scarlet is red. Her bishops and cardinals wear purple and scarlet (red). The pope wears gold, purple and scarlet at certain times. This is an exact match to the Scriptures concerning the harlot organization.
Verse 4 tells us that the harlot was "adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls." This signifies at least three things to me.
First, the harlot is very rich. She wears gold, precious stones and pearls. The Catholic church is the richest organization in the world. Since her conception, she has primarily gained that status through the years by raping the nations of their wealth. She has taken what is not hers and she has claimed those possessions as her own. No other nation even comes close to the abomination of murdering other people for their possessions as the Catholic church has done to gain her wealth.
Second, the types of things the harlot has is described as gold, precious stones and pearls. Although this, again, signifies the Catholic church's great amassing of wealth, it also describes the rosary which is made up of various precious stones or pearls. The evil cult of the rosary or prayer beads originated from pagan cultures such as Egypt and the Far Eastern cult religions. It is not a Christian thing to do at all.
Third, the word gold, or at least its form gold and golden is found twice in verse 4. The harlot not only wears gold, but she also holds a cup of gold. The Catholic church is the only religious organization I know of that has as it's main symbol representing the church as a woman holding a golden cup.
The cup that the Catholic church claims as the "cup of Christ" is in reality the cup of abominations she commits against Christ Himself. When God gave us the golden cup as a clue to who the harlot is, He also gave us descriptions with the cup that makes it no doubt in my mind that the harlot is the Catholic church.
In verse 4 and 6 the cup is described as "a golden cup full of abominations and the filthiness of her fornication... And I saw the woman, drunk with the blood of the saints and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus."
First, the cup is full of abominations that the harlot commits with every nation. Second, the harlot is drunk (from the cup is implied) with the blood of the saints and martyrs of Jesus Christ. So, the cup is full of the blood of the saints. The inference here is that she is the one who martyred the saints of God. And rightfully so, for it is, again, the Catholic church who stands alone in that they have murdered more true saints of Jesus than all other nations combined!
If that is too hard for you to believe, simply take the time to read John Foxe's "Book of Martyrs" which will shed all of the light you need on this subject. Foxe's Book of Martyrs is God's testimony of the millions of true Christians who were martyred at the hands of the Roman Emperors and the Catholic church (along with a few other nations as well).
I have pages on my web site dedicated to stories of these martyrs for you to see for yourself the horrors the Catholic church did in the name of God. This is why God calls her a harlot full of abominations and martyrs of those who follow Christ and the blood of saints of whose blood the Catholic church has shed.
There is no mistake that the Catholic church is the one who murdered more true saints of God than any other organization in history. Just as the Catholic church has dealt out to God's true saints, throughout history and even now, God will give back to her what she deserves. Verse 16 says the beast's ten kings will "hate the harlot, make her desolate and naked, eat her flesh and burn her with fire."
Just as the Catholic church has caused the true saints of God to become desolate, naked, ate their flesh and burned them with fire, God will cause the Antichrist's kingdom to do that to the Catholic church. God will make sure they will share in the same fate as they caused His saints to endure. (See Revelation 17:16.)
Unfortunately, the Catholic church has convinced millions of people that they serve God and are a Christian organization, in which they are not. They are as pagan as the original church of Rome itself. They have always been pagan, and have cloaked themselves with a false garment of Christianity that they have tried to cover their many sins and abominations they commit in the name of Christ. But those sins have, for centuries, and even now, been exposed by faithful servants of Jesus Christ Himself.
Verse 5 says that the harlot has a name of her forehead that reads: "MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH."
Notice that the name has a few clues to it. The first two clues are "mystery" and "Babylon the Great." Babylon is know for its pagan religious mysteries. These mysteries were passed down to many nations including the Roman Empire. The Catholic church has delved into the mysteries of the Babylonian pagan cult. Even the structure of the Catholic church having a high priest, the pope, bishops, cardinals, monks and nuns all coincide with the hierarchy of the Babylonian religious structure.
The Catholic church also openly states that they have mysteries that are tied to things like the rosary. The rosary originated with pagan cultures as beads that had powers that helped in aiding prayers to the gods. The Catholic church continued this pagan ritual in the form of Christianity. Paganism and Christianity doesn't mix. God hates all pagan rituals even if those rituals are backed by so-called Christian beliefs.
Another description of the harlot's name is that she is "the mother of harlots and of the abominations of the earth." The two parts to this is that she will originate with Babylon and yet, in herself, she will be the Mother of all of the other harlots of the earth. This seems to be a great mystery.
But, by studying history, it is clear that from Babylon came the worship of Satan, mythology, astrology, mother-son worship and many other evil practices. The Catholic church has included many of these practices into their so-called Christian worship.
As to the title of the "Mother of Harlots", the Catholic church claims to be the "Mother over all people." Many denominations broke away from the Catholic church that continued some of the Catholic beliefs and practices. These would be classified as children from the mother Catholic church. They are churches that broke away from the Catholic church, but did not break 100 percent away from it. They retained many of the Catholic church's pagan rituals, thus they are also classified as "children harlots" from the "mother harlot".
Verse 18 tells us that the woman is that "great city which reigns over the kings of the earth.'' Some say that this is Babylon, but at the time of John wrote Revelation, Babylon was in ruins. The seven heads of the beast that the woman sit on are seven mountains on which the woman (the great city) sits.
So, the woman (the harlot organization) is a city and the seven heads of the beast where she (the city) sits are seven mountains. The greatest city whose representative has its seat on seven hills is Vatican City. The pope's church which he claims is his seat of authority is St. John Lateran which does sit on one of the seven hills of Rome. So one can say that the pope, and the Catholic church, over which he presides, sits on the seven hills of Rome.
Here is a summary of how the harlot is revealed as being the Catholic church who is led by the pope. The Catholic church fulfills every Scripture from Revelation 17 that speaks about the harlot.
- The Catholic church's bishops and cardinals wear purple and scarlet (red) clothing as a marked symbol that represents their organization. (Revelation 17:4).
- The official church of the Catholic pope sits on one the seven hills of Rome, so you can say that the city that sits on seven hills is the seat of the harlot (the pope). That city is Vatican City. (Revelation 17:9, 18). Also, as prophesied in Jeremiah 50, the Antichrist's kingdom which is spoken of as the country of Babylon, says its will be the least (smallest) of nations. Vatican City is the smallest country in the world that is specifically dedicated to being a religious organization.
- The Catholic church is the richest organization in the world. She hoards gold, precious stones and pearls. Also, the Catholic pope, bishops, cardinals, priests and nuns all wear the rosary which can be made of precious stones and pearls. This is an abomination to God. Prayer beads originated with pagan cult religions from Egypt and the Far East. The Catholic church mocks God by incorporating cult, pagan artifacts into their worship.
- The Catholic church proudly claims that she is a woman who holds a golden cup. This woman is a representation of the Catholic church itself as can be seen on various coins or medals minted by the Catholic church.
- The cup is full of two things; abominations in general (detestable things God hates) and the blood of the true saints of God. The Catholic church is the main organization that is responsible for murdering more true saints of God than all other organizations and countries in the world combined. Countless millions of Christians have been martyred by the Catholic church, and yet, she claims to be Christian herself. What an abomination that is; to claim to be Christian and yet murder God's true saints by the millions. - The harlot has a name on her forehead that is a mystery. The mystery is many things. One mystery that is an abomination to God is the rosary which is one of the Catholic church's mysteries. Also the Catholic church picked up its mysteries from Babylonian mysteries which includes Satan worship, idol worship, worshipping many gods, mother-son worship and many other evil practices.
